Children and your cat or kittens
| Cats and Children: If you
have children, explain to them that the new cat is not a furry toy.
Children are usually good with animals, but some an get a little to
over-enthusiastic and excited. Teach children the correct way to hold a
cat; explain that tails are not designed to be pulled and that the
creature should be treated with respect. Your children will love to play
with the kitten, but make sure that they do not get too rough with it;
young bones are delicate and can be broken. Remember, too, that cats have
a very good self-defense system; if your child get to rumbustious, the cat
will quite likely sue it's claws and there will be tears before
bedtime. To prevent eye injuries, teach children not to push their faces
up close to the cat. Take plenty of time with your new cat, introducing it
gradually to it's new home, and you should find hat you have a happy,
contented and sociable pet for many years. |
